It seems there is much impact with computing the stats on global Temporary tables(GTT), especially on the production environments.
Oracle 10g has some features to stop computing stats on GTT but we need to enable the dynamic sampling to allow oracle to compute the stats as and when required.
It looks to be working better now on production, at least for me. :)
